The Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) held a rally on March 3 in Mumbai to protest against alleged illegal incursions by Muslim groups into Maharashtra's historic forts. Over 25 Hindu organizations attended the rally, dedicated to preserving and repairing forts and historical sites. The demonstration began at Nariman Point and ended at Azad Maidan.

Sunil Dhanwat, the head of HJS Maharashtra, stated that taking down unlawful structures is crucial for maintaining the rich history and cultural legacy of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. He also emphasised the need for the state government to assemble a powerful committee to deal with the issue. The goal of the rally was to bring the state government's attention to the complicated issues that have persisted for many years.

The HJS is urging people to take part in the campaign against what it calls "land jihad" by distributing leaflets and spreading information on social media. Dhanwat alleges that Islamic organizations have a plan to turn ancient sites and forts into their religious centers. Unauthorised mosques, dargahs, and kabristans have emerged in many locations, including Raigad, Vishalgad, Kulaba, Lohagad, and Vandangad.

Dhanwat claims that there is a deep-rooted conspiracy to transform Shrikhsetra Mangalgad into Haji Malang. On Eid, namaz is offered in Thane's Durgagad Fort, and Hindus are not allowed to worship at that time. He further added that the Vishalgad temple grounds need to restore the deity, as well as Baji Prabhu and Phulaji Prabhu's memorial. Afzal Khan's kabristan is located in Pratapgad, but the entire acreage has been encroached.
