Even after going through the checklist multiple times, people tend to forget to pack important things while travelling. But when important things like medicines are left behind at home, people begin panicking as some of these medications are either very hard to find in the local drug store or are expensive especially if you are travelling for a long period of time and need that many doses. A similar situation was brought to notice to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport’s (CSMIA) staff, who, with their quick on feet thinking, fought all odds to get those medication before the passenger boarded their flight.

An elderly couple who were travelling to Houston from Nagpur via Mumbai airport, noticed they had left behind the husband’s diabetic insulin injections at home. Since their stay in Houston was two months long and the husband had advanced diabetes, it was necessary for him to have those medication on time. The couple, immediately rushed to the medical store inside international departure’s retail area but could not find the necessary prescription.

The dismayed couple immediately contacted Amit Tiwari, Assistant Manager who was nearby and explained their situation. CSMIA’s staff - Tiwari immediately sprang into action and called one of the airport associates, Bhima Jadhav and requested him to go to the nearest medical store outside the airport and help the elderly couple with the required medication. Jadhav, without any hesitation, took the prescription from the couple and rushed outside the airport to get the medicines. Jadhav got back in time and handed over the required dose to the couple before their boarding hour. Overjoyed by this humble and kind gesture, the couple couldn’t thank Tiwari and Jadhav enough for their quick action, presence of mind and timeliness and appreciated their compassion and thoughtfulness towards passenger’s need at the airport.
