Mumbai FC Football players extend support to cancer survivors at Nanavati Max Super Speciality Hospital. Three professional Indian football players from Mumbai City Football Club, Goalkeeper Bhaskar Roy (29), Defender Amey Ranawade (24) and Midfielder Asif Khan (21), visited Nanavati Max Hospital to spend a day and encourage cancer survivors. This was done as a part of Max Healthcare’s long standing campaign against cancer “Nidarr Hamesha,’that aims to reduce the socio-economic impact of this deadly disease. Nanavati Max Hospital is also the official medical partner of Mumbai City FC, the professional football club based in Mumbai that competes in the Indian Super League.

The players and management of Mumbai City FC presented patients with exclusive gifts, symbolizing support and appreciation for their fight against cancer. The gesture was well-received by the patients, who expressed gratitude for the players’ visit. The players also spent time chatting with patients, offering words of encouragement, and posing for photos.

Commenting on the occasion, Dr Hemant Tongaonkar, Senior Director-Urologic & Gynaecologic Oncosurgery & Head-Surgical Oncology, Nanavati Max Hospital said, “The players’ visit was a much-needed boost of morale for the patients and their families, and serves as a reminder of the importance of supporting those who are battling cancer. World Cancer Day is a crucial opportunity to raise awareness and take positive actions towards reducing the impact of this disease.”

Amey Ranawade, who has represented successful Indian football clubs such as DSK Shivajians, FC Goa, Mohun Bagan and Bengaluru United said, “We are honoured to have had the opportunity to visit these courageous patients and spread a message of positivity ahead of World Cancer Day. This was a part of our ongoing efforts to give back to our community and raise awareness about the impact of cancer.”

The team of doctors from Nanavati Max Institute of Cancer Care (NMICC), the oncology unit of Nanavati Max Hospital, also spent time with the three players and management staff. The doctors apprised the players about the burden of different types of cancers and urged them to create awareness among the followers about the importance of regular screening and early detection.

World Cancer Day is observed on February 4 and is a day dedicated to raising awareness about the impact of cancer and promoting positive actions to reduce its impact. The Nanavati Max Hospital recently augmented its cancer offerings with NMICC and welcomed an illustrious team of medical, surgical, and radiation oncologists. State-of-the-art technology and internationally acclaimed cancer specialists enable NMICC to compete with oncology units from the world's most advanced healthcare systems.
