The grand finale of the Mumbai Festival 2024, organised by The Directorate of Tourism, culminated with a breathtaking display of melodies and pledges to a sustainable, cleaner, and greener world, as the ‘Concert for Change’ took center stage at the MMRDA Grounds, BKC.

With each note and resonating melody, the concert signified the festival's climactic conclusion and left an enduring imprint on the hearts and minds of every Mumbaikar.

The Concert for Change was a captivating experience thoughtfully designed to inspire and motivate, bringing together diverse genres and a stellar lineup of acclaimed artists, the evening transcended traditional entertainment, promoting a deep sense of unity and empowerment.

Esteemed dignitaries, including Girish Mahajan, Minister of Tourism, Rural Development & Panchayat Raj, Government of Maharashtra, Jayshree Bhoj, Secretary Tourism, Government of Maharashtra, Dr. B.N. Patil, Director, Directorate of Tourism, Government of Maharashtra, Shraddhra Joshi Sharma, MD, MTDC, Anand Mahindra, Chairperson of the Mumbai Festival Advisory Committee, celebrated actress & United Nations Environment Goodwill Ambassador for India, Dia Mirza, and UN Resident Coordinator, Mr. Shombi Sharpe, graced the Closing Ceremony with insightful pledges reflecting the resounding success of the Mumbai Festival 2024.

While asking citizens to embrace 'Paryavarn Purak Paryatan’, and taking the pledge for a better tomorrow, Girish Mahajan, Minister of Tourism, Rural Development, & Panchayat Raj, Government of Maharashtra, said, "I pledge to prioritise sustainable travel, ensuring a brighter future for generations to come and commit to making our rural areas economically robust. Together, let us make next year's festival an even more significant celebration, contributing to the prosperity of our nation. I also extend my gratitude to Wizcraft International Pvt Ltd and our Department members for organizing the mesmerizing Mumbai Festival event."

The event came alive with extraordinary performances and heartfelt messages delivered by a diverse lineup of acclaimed artists and musicians, including luminaries such as Ajay-Atul, Parineeti Chopra, Ricky Kej, and Sonalee Kulkarni. At the heart of the closing ceremony were impactful speeches from esteemed dignitaries, with Dia Mirza taking on the significant role of hosting the UNSDGs halftime moment. Her presence added a special touch to the festival's resounding success, shedding light on initiatives dedicated to promoting positive societal change. 

Proudly advocating the Mumbai Festival, Anand Mahindra, Chairperson of the Mumbai Festival Advisory Committee, said, "With nine days of fun and cultural extravaganza and more 50 events across more than 50 different venues, the first edition of the Mumbai Festival finally concludes. With the support of Girish Mahajan, we attained the recognition of a Section 8 company for the Mumbai Festival. Special gratitude to the Mumbai Police, and the BMC for their support in helping us organise the Mumbai Festival, without a hitch. Additional thanks to the resilient Mumbaikars for making this festival a triumph and contributing to Mumbai being the world's second most honest city. A heartfelt promise to return next year with the same fervor and an even more spectacular festival."

The event witnessed overwhelming participation, transforming it into a grand preview of the cultural splendor we can anticipate in the years to come.

Dia Mirza, United Nations Environment Goodwill Ambassador for India & United Nations Secretary-General Advocate for Sustainable Development Goals, said, “In this 'Concert of Change,' we have come together to commit and pledge for a cleaner and greener Mumbai. Our journey towards sustainable goals demands collective effort. Throughout nine days of continuous and supreme enjoyment, we celebrated with care, consciousness, and a firm dedication to sustainability. Sustainability lies at the heart of the Mumbai Festival, evident through initiatives like the Start-Up Mumbai Challenge - Forever Planet, Beach Cleanup, Earth Movie Contest, Tourism Conclave, and more. If you observe closely, every heartbeat of Mumbai Festival pulsates with sustainability and inclusivity.”
