Purchasing veggies would not seem complete to many Indians if they did not receive the joyful surprise of complementary such coriander leaves (dhaniya) and/or curry leaves (Kaddi patta). That is not possible, though, when ordering vegetables online from sites like Blinkit.

A Mumbai guy named Ankit Sawant made a post on X, highlighting how his mother appeared to be surprised when she saw that she had to pay for the herbs like dhaniya, when placing an order on Blinkit.

Many people saw his message, including CEO Albinder Dhindsa. To its surprise, he also responded to Sawant's post.

It all began when Sawant wrote: "Mom got a mini heart attack because she had to pay for dhaniya on Blinkit. @albinder - mom is suggesting that you should bundle it for free with a certain amount of veggies."

Within a few hours the post went viral and on seeing this post Dhindsa took to X and wrote, “It’s live! Everyone please thank Ankit’s mom. We will polish the feature in the next couple of weeks”.

Additionally, he posted a screenshot of Blinkit offering customers the chance to add 100g of free coriander when they order specific vegetables.

Sawant declared that he is also a startup creator, thrilled with Blinkit's prompt response.

He said, “So I am taking this moment to let you know that I am also a founder of one, @TravelOnArrival. And as in every early stage startup founder’s life probably the reason for asking free dhaniya.”

The post has had over 2.6 lakh views since it was shared a few hours ago, and the number is rising swiftly. The viral post has received close to 3,900 likes so far. As people responded to the share, they left a variety of responses.

On learning about this freebee many users expressed happiness. A user commented “Wow! The execution speed.” Another user posted, “Dude, seriously, this is amazing.” “That's literally every mom ever, but thanks! Mine would be happy too,” joined a third. Another user posted, “What speed! Free dhaniya is an offline experience going online.”

In 2013, Albinder Dhindsa, the CEO and co-founder of Blinkit (formerly Grofers), established the business. This Gurugram-based business is presently active in 26 cities throughout the nation and was acquired by Zomato in 2022.
