Apple has opened its first official store today, April 18, in Mumbai's Jio World Mall located in Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC) aiming to tap into the country's growing market.

The store's official opening was marked by long queues of devoted Apple fans eager to be among the first to enter. Apple CEO Tim Cook officially opened the door at 11 am.

The Mumbai store is the first of two locations to be opened in India, with the second set to open in New Delhi on April 20.

During his visit to India, Tim Cook met with top officials from Indian companies, including Reliance Retail and Reliance Jio.

The store in Mumbai has more than 100 members who speak over 20 languages.

Cook was also seen sharing Vada pav with famous Bollywood actress Madhuri Dixit Nene. A photo of the two laughing together went viral.

A video of Cook allegedly leaving the home of Mukesh Ambani, chairman and managing director of Reliance Industries, was also seen on the internet.

Several Bollywood stars such as AR Rahman, Mouni Roy, singer Armaan Malik, Madhuri Dixit, Suraj Nambiar, Raveena Tandon and Farah Khan attended the exclusive store launch event, highlighting the importance of Apple's entry into India's retail market.

The Mumbai store offers a range of Apple products, including the iPhone, MacBook, and Apple Watch, as well as free technical support and workshops for customers.

For more than 25 years, Apple has only operated in India through third-party resellers. This has made the opening of physical stores in the country a milestone event. The move is also seen as a commitment to the Indian market, where Apple has faced challenges. They include high import taxes and competition from cheaper Chinese brands.
