On Tuesday, April 26, Maharashtra Environment and Tourism Minister, Aaditya Thackeray called on Railways Minister, Ashwini Vaishnaw at Rail Bhavan in Delhi. This according to reports was done to discuss the many rail issues pertinent to the state. 

Following his discussion with the union Railways minister, Thackeray interacted with the media and shared that the conversation concerned itself with the National Common Mobility Card (NCMC) that has been introduced for BEST buses and metro stations in India.

The minister was quoted in accounts elaborating "We've requested him to expedite the process of integrating railways in Mumbai under this too." BEST General Manager Lokesh Chandra had said in narratives that after approval has been granted the card can be used to purchase season railway tickets. 

For those unversed, through the NCMC, locals can ply by railways, metros, buses, and all other public transport modes. The card will have an automatic fare collection system and the amount will be deducted from the wallet that can be accessed through smartphones.

On the other hand, the public transportation system in Mumbai is anticipated to grow in leaps and bounds, with reports stating that the railways are looking to convoy air-conditioned locomotives with upgraded seating arrangements and increased space for passengers on the suburban railway tracks by 2023.
