Mumbai: After 18 hours block, Trains running on Kalva-Mumbra Slow lines

The work of 5th, 6th line project between Thane and Diva (around 9-km stretch) has been ongoing for 11 years now. Initially, it was marred due to encroachments and later technical glitches.

After the 18 hours block, the suburban trains on down slow line i.e. from Kalwa to Mumbra has been running on the new alignment from electric pole 36/21 to 38/7 and via new tunnel no.1 for a length of approx 1.6kms from today, December 20, 2021. After exiting the tunnel, the trains will run on present Down slow line.

Similarly, Up slow suburban trains i.e. from Mumbra to Kalva will be running on the new alignment from electric pole 38/7 to 36/21 via new tunnel no 1. After exiting the tunnel, the trains will run on present Up slow line

Rail users are advised not to trespass or walk on the railway track as it will be dangerous and fatal.

Mumbai Division of Central Railways (CR) to carry out its first 18-hours mega block on the Thane-Diva stretch for commissioning 5th and 6th line on Sunday, December 19.

According to Mumbai Rail Vikas Corporation (MRVC), the block which commence at around 8 am on Sunday, ended at 2 am on wee hours of Monday, December 20.

The work of 5th, 6th line project between Thane and Diva (around 9-km stretch) has been ongoing for 11 years now. Initially, it was marred due to encroachments and later technical glitches. The trials will begin after this long work, later it will be opened for the public.

Earlier, on September 26, CR operated special traffic and power block of 10 hours between Kalva-Mumbra Up slow line from 08.00 am to 06.00 pm, in connection with slewing of Up slow line for Thane-Diva 5th & 6th Line.
