Mumbai: BEST Announces 50 Additional Buses On New Year's Eve

The Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST) has decided to release a total of 50 extra buses on various bus lines for the convenience of night-time commuters and tourists at Gateway of India, Juhu Chowpatty, Gorai Beach and other beaches in mumbai on New Year’s Eve, December 31.

This development came days after the Mumbai division of Western Railways (WR) has decided to run eight special local train services during the midnight of December 31, 2022 and January 1, 2023.

Releasing an official statement, BEST shared that if required, more number of buses will be released. “All passengers are requested to make the most of the additional bus services provided by the West initiative on the occasion of welcoming the New Year,” it added.

Moreover, for the help of such commuters, Mumbai police officials and bus inspectors will be appointed at Dr. Shyamaprasad Mukherjee Chowk Juhu Chowpatty, Gorai Beach as well as Churchgate Station (East) and Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT).

Besides, in the view of New Year's celebration, which is held every year on December 31, the Mumbai Police has decided to deploy 25 DCPs, 7 Additional Commissioners, 1500 officers, around 10,000 police personnel, 46 SRPF platoons and 15 QRT teams across the city.

Meanwhile, earlier in the day, the Thane and Navi Mumbai police officials have announced several measures and drives being planned for the New Year’s Eve, which is celebrated on December 31.
