On Tuesday, March 9, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) L ward lodged a complaint at the Powai police station and also wrote to the traffic police’s Sakinaka division to take action against the illegal parking of trucks filled with gas cylinders.

Earlier, the residents of Srishti Harmony Complex on the bustling Saki Vihar Road in Powai had complained to the BMC against the gas cylinder agency that had been illegally parking the truck outside the society. Furthermore, the residents claimed that the agency is operating through the trucks on the streets instead of from a godown. They even claimed that the civic body was only taking superficial action.

The area opposite the society is a no-parking area, yet the trucks are parked and function like a godown, said, residents. While residents claim BMC took no action, the civic body itself said that it is for the city police and traffic police to intervene.

In a response to that, the BMC said that the cylinders were seized thrice in the past 15 days, the civic body cannot do anything else.

Despite BMC's action, they can return but if traffic police or local police take action, there could be permanent relief, said an official.

Srishti Harmony Complex has around 100 families with children and senior citizens. They have been complaining to the BMC about the trucks for the past two years, the latest complaint was lodged in the last week.
