The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) is all set to renovate dilapidated Brihanmumbai Electricity Supply and Transport (BEST) bus stops across the city. It has directed all the ward officials to prepare a list of the bus stops that require urgent attention. After the BEST fares were reduced, the ridership has increased considerably. However, due to hawkers and parked vehicles, the bus commuters find it inconvenient while waiting at the bus stops.

Even after the BMC has directed that no private vehicle should be parked within 15 metres of a bus stop, the same is not being followed. The BMC officials also stated that they will conduct drives and take strict actions against vehicles that are parked and hawkers within a radius of 15 metres of the bus stop. With increasing the fleets of the BEST buses, adding mini and midi buses along with introducing new routes, the BMC is giving impetus to the cash-strapped BEST wherein it also giving a boost to public transport. The latest addition to the BEST route was Sandhurst Road station to Opera House in Charni Road.

As a part of its beautification plan, the BMC is setting up various vertical gardens at bus stops with the first one ta Shivaji Park. The municipal corporation has also commenced the beautification work of the 4.5 km stretch of a footpath from Mahim to Siddhivinayak Temple
As the areas adjoining Shivaji Park consists of various religious and tourist attractions in G North Ward such as Siddhivinayak Temple, Mahim Dargah, Chaitya Bhoomi, BMC intends to make the footpaths more eye-friendly and easy to walk for the pedestrians.
