A notification issued by Central Railway has marked out the identity and the location for the proposed Chikhloli railway station on the city’s suburban railway network.

This new station will be situated 64.17 kilometres from Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT), the notification read. Back in March 2019, the railway board had approved Chikhloli to be set up as a ‘halt station’, which is a station used for momentary train halts.

This move was welcomed by locals in the region who hoped that this would ease the worries of commuters between the Ambernath and Badlapur railway stations. This new station will be 4.34 Km away from Ambernath and 3.1 Km from the Badlapur station.
