Soon, there will be dedicated zones for Automatic Ticket Vending Machines (ATVM) at stations on Central Railway (CR) line. The CR has decided to do the same in order to generate a revenue stream as well as make ATVMs more accessible and appealing to commuters.
In an initial phase, the CR is planning to roll out ATVMs across all stations, it will begin with Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus and Kalyan. These machines will be kiosks or cubicles made of artificial walls.
One of the senior railway officials said these will be created in the existing booking offices where there will be at least three ATVMs. He added that the walls will conceal all the wires and give the area a finished look.
