Central Railway has now taken a big step for the safety of passengers and to find the criminals. 3652 cameras with facial recognition systems will be installed at 117 stations of Central Railway. 6122 video surveillance cameras will be installed at 364 stations. Central Railway informed that the cameras with face recognition system will improve the safety of passengers, control crime, deter law violators and monitor compliance of railway rules.


Central Railway will install a video surveillance system with 3652 CCTV cameras from Nirbhaya fund at A1, A, B and C category stations with the help of RailTel. An MoU in this regard has already been signed between the Railway Board and Railtel. These CCTV cameras will have a face recognition system, video analytics, video management system and will be installed at 117 stations of Central Railway. Apart from this, 2470 cameras will be installed at 247 stations of Central Railway.

Central Railway stations, including all stations in the Mumbai suburban network, will soon be equipped with cameras with facial recognition systems. This technology will help in catching fugitive criminals. Central Railway plans to install cameras with a face recognition system at 117 stations, all of which will have 4K technology. These cameras will be installed at all stations in the Mumbai division, except stations equipped with integrated security systems such as Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus, Dadar, Kurla, Thane, Lokmanya Tilak Terminus and Kalyan.
