Harbour Line services experienced significant disruptions this morning, June 7, due to a fire incident near Nerul station. As a precautionary measure, the up and down line suburban services between Panvel and Nerul were temporarily suspended, leading to delays for the office-going commuters.
The disruptions were caused by a short circuit that occurred between Juinagar and Nerul stations during rush hour, reports stated. The short circuit resulted breaking of an overhead wire, and the subsequent sparks ignited a brief but significant fire near Nerul station.
The disruption has caused confusion and inconvenience which led to overcrowding of the stations and trains.

Central Railway (CR) officials swiftly responded to the issue, resolving the short circuit within 20 minutes. However, the incident resulted in a delay of approximately 5 to 10 minutes for the affected commuters. The short circuit was reported on a yard line around 7 am in the morning, officials added.
On the other hand, many alleged that trains are late by nearly 30 minutes as opposed to CR's claim.
