Due to consecutive holidays like Independence Day, Janmashtami and Sunday, the number of outbound travelers is high. With the waiting list for regular and special trains to Goa being filled, it has become difficult for passengers to get reserved tickets. Therefore, a special train will be run from Lokmanya Tilak Terminus to Madgaon on the Central and Konkan Railway lines. Ticket reservations for this train will start on August 12.

Margao – Lokmanya Tilak Terminus – Margao Special Train

Train No. 01502 Margao Junction to Lokmanya Tilak Terminus Weekly Special Train will depart from Margao Junction at 4.30 pm on August 17. This train will arrive at Lokmanya Tilak Terminus at 6 am the next day.  

Train No. 01501 Lokmanya Tilak Terminus to Madgaon Junction Weekly Special Train will depart at 8.30 am on August 18. This train will reach Madgaon Junction at 10.40 pm on the same day.

Where will this train stop?

This train will stop at Thane, Panvel, Pen, Roha, Mangaon, Khed, Chiplun, Sangameshwar Road, Ratnagiri, Adawali, Vilawade, Rajapur Road, Vaibhavwadi Road, Kankavali, Sindhudurg, Kudal, Sawantwadi Road, Thivi, Karmali railway stations.

This train will have a total of 20 LHB coaches. The configuration will be one second air-conditioned coach, three third air-conditioned coaches, two third air-conditioned economy coaches, eight sleeper coaches, four general coaches, one SLR coach, and one generator car.

Reservations for this train will begin on August 12 on all Passenger Reservation Systems (PRS), the Internet and the IRCTC website. 302 special trains will be run from Central and Konkan Railways. This decision has been taken to reduce the extra rush of passengers.

Central Railway initially announced to run 250 Ganpati Special trains. Later, Central Railway re-announced to run 50 special trains in addition to that. Also, the Diva-Chiplun-Diva Memu daily unreserved special train will be expanded by adding two more services. With this, the number of special trains being run on the occasion of Ganeshotsav has reached 302.
