After heavy rains in Mumbai, water accumulates in low-lying areas within a short period of time. Local services get disrupted due to waterlogging on the Mumbai Suburban Railway line. Therefore, training has been started to motormen and loco pilots through the simulator system set up at CSMT on how to run local and express trains during monsoons and in case of waterlogging on the railway track.


Simulators have been set up at CSMT to further enhance the train driving skills of Loco Pilots, motormen. The simulator system provides the motorman with hands-on experience of driving the train under many realistic conditions. The officials of Central Railway expressed the opinion that due to this training, the journey of railway passengers will also be safer.

On the Central Railway, the tracks between many stations get submerged during monsoons. At that time, training was being given to the loco pilot, motorman on how to run the train very safely through the simulator system. A senior official of Central Railway informed that training is also provided on trespassing, how to run trains in emergency situations. Both Loco Pilot and Assistant Loco Pilot are trained in emergency braking through the 'RS Valve' simulator system. A senior official of Central Railway said that the passenger traffic and cargo traffic is safe.

What is the simulator system?

Motorman, a system is designed like a loco pilot's cabin. Motormen, loco pilots are given practical experience of driving a train through this system. Through this system, training is given on speed limit, signal system instructions, what to do in case of emergency.
