Fuel Rates: Diesel become cheaper by 60 paise per liter in 3 days; Petrol remains unchanged at record highs

On Friday, August 20, diesel prices were cut down for the third consecutive day across all metros. However, the price of petrol remained unchanged at record highs for the straight 34 days.

With this, diesel has become cheaper by 60 paise per litre in three days. 

In Mumbai, the petrol prices stood unchanged at INR 107.83 per litre, while the revised diesel rates were INR 96.84 per litre.

Among the four metro cities, petrol and diesel prices are the highest in Mumbai, according to the state-run oil refiner. Fuel rates vary across the states due to value-added tax (VAT).

Crude oil is continuously weakening in the global market. Brent crude has now slipped below $ 67 per baller. The last hike in petrol prices was on July 17, 2021.

Petrol became costlier by INR 3.30 in July

Let us tell you that in July, the price of petrol was increased by INR 3.03 while diesel became costlier by 69 paise. Moreover, petrol rates have crossed INR 100-mark in about 20 states and union territories, which includes, Tamil Nadu, West Bengal, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Odisha, Jammu and Kashmir along with four metro cities.
