These Destinations Now Have A Direct Flight From Mumbai

Air India will launch its direct flight from Mumbai to London Stansted . Currently, Air India has the right to operate 42 flights per week to London. Moreover, IndiGo Airlines recently announced direct flight service to and from Mumbai to Hubli.

The air passenger traffic on Mumbai-London route has increased by 25 per cent in the last five years and is expected to increase by 27 per cent in the next year. Taking these factors into consideration, Air India will launch its direct flight from Mumbai to London Stansted Airport. Currently, Air India has the right to operate 42 flights per week to London.

Parallelly, IndiGo Airlines too is looking at expanding its routes and has announced direct flight service from Mumbai to Hubli in Karnataka. This flight service will start from April 1, 2020.

Earlier this year, there were 24 additional direct flights from Mumbai to Southeast Asian countries.  The Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport had seen a steady rise in the number of passengers travelling to Southeast Asian countries like Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia etc. In the financial year 2018-19, over 4,88,538 passengers travelled from Mumbai to Bangkok i.e. 669 passengers per day. 

Taking into consideration all these factors, Mumbai International Airport added 24 flights daily to Southeast Asian countries. The expansion will be in the existing fleet of GoAir, IndiGo, SpiceJet and Vistara. Notably, SpiceJet started a direct connecting flight from Mumbai to Hong Kong on Wednesday, July 31 and GoAir has started a direct flight from Mumbai to Bangkok. 

These initiatives will further boost tourism from Mumbai to Southeast Asian countries.
