While the broader upgrades are ongoing, commuters are already benefiting from developments completed under Phase I of the project, commissioned in December 2023.

An MRVC official stated that they have commissioned one more escalator on platform number 4 at Ghatkopar railway station a couple of days ago, taking the total number of escalators installed during phase one to six.
The removal of the municipal toilets is being delayed due to some work being stalled.
MRVC Chief Public Relations Officer (CPRO) Sunil Udasi said, "We are committed to making Ghatkopar station a model of modern railway infrastructure. Work on Phase 2 is underway. Along with meeting the deadline, we are also prioritising passenger convenience."
