Western Railway (WR) recently announced that the middle Foot Over Bridge (FOB) of Goregaon Station will be inaccessible from January 11 as it will go under construction. Western Railway has issued an advisory stating that commuters should use the new Foot Over Bridge, which connects all platforms on the east side.

Notably, after the collapse of Gokhale bridge at Andheri and Himalaya bridge near Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT), the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has announced a structural audit for all the bridges across Mumbai. According to the report, the foot overbridges at Ghatkopar, Mulund, Vikhroli, and Powai was found to be 'dangerous' for public use. Now the BMC has declared that they will demolish these foot over bridges and rebuild them.

As per BMC's plan, a bridge will be constructed at Tagore Nagar in Vikhroli whereas a bridge will be built at Saki Vihar Road in Powai. The municipal corporation will be allotting funds of ₹7.79 crores for their construction.

Following are the Bridges that will be Reconstructed With Their Proposed Length:

  • Ghatkopar West, Barve Nagar: 12 meters
  • Vikhroli East, Kannamwar Nagar: 20 meters
  • Powai, Near Renaissance Hotel: 29 meters
  • Mulund, Ramabai Nagar: 30 meters
  • Vikhroli East, Tagore Nagar: 20 meters
