Goregaon - Work of connecting Western Railway’s Goregaon station with Central Railway’s CST station has now suddenly been propelled on to the fast track.

The work, that has been dragging on for five years, has now picked up speed with the work of connecting both the railway lines set to be completed in the next six months. Mumbaikars will be able to travel without changing trains from the Western line to the Central line from Goregaon to CST.

The hurdles were many. The land to the west of Jogeshwari station was brought under railway jurisdiction to complete the work within the given time. A hotel at that location needed to be shifted and on the other side, a proposed flyover near Oshiwara station added another obstacle. The authorities have now overcome the challenges, and now the tracks are fixed and platforms are being constructed at Jogeshwari, Ram Mandir and Goregaon stations.

Goregaon station master Dinesh Dhorje told Mumbai Live that people could expect uninterrupted travel between Goregaon and CST in the next six months. 2017 has indeed started on a sweet note for Goregaon folks.
