Harbour line local services still not back on track

Local railway services on the Central Railway's Harbour line continue to be affected for 12 hours now, after a goods train derailed near GTB Nagar this morning.

Four wagons of the train derailed near Wadala around 4 am, throwing services on the up and down tracks out of gear. 12 hours later, Central Railway authorities are still struggling to clear the tracks of the derailed wagons. Over 500 officials and workers have been pressed into service to clear the debris.

Local services will resume only after the wagons are cleared from the tracks, and the sleepers and overhead wires are checked, say authorities.

Office goers are likely to need to use the Kurla or Thane routes in order to reach Panvel or Navi Mumbai.
