Maharashtra is dealing with the adverse effects of heavy rainfall. As a result, passengers are opting to cancel their journeys despite the Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation's (MSRTC) increasing bus frequency of Shivneri bus. The risky weather conditions have forced the passengers to postpone their plans until it becomes safe again.

The MSRTC officials have also reported a noticeable decline in Mumbai-bound passengers as people are reluctant to travel during the unpredictable rainy season.

Additionally, a fresh dispute has arisen at the Swargate bus depot. Private bus operators are luring passengers with lower fares for Mumbai travel there. This competition has resulted in tensions with MSRTC officials, who are trying to maintain standard pricing.

Travellers are exercising caution. Only those with urgent and essential travel needs are opting to brave the rain-soaked routes between Pune and Mumbai. The travel scenario remains uncertain. But it is expected that passenger behaviour may change as the rainy season progresses.

Moreover, it is pertinent to note the landslid that occurred near the Adoshi tunnel in the Bhor Ghat section on the Mumbai-Pune motorway has also impacted the traffic flow. On a Sunday night, July 23, at approximately 10.30 pm, a rock collapsed, blocking all three lanes of the Mumbai carriageway with fallen stones.

The Highway Safety Patrol team responded to the situation. This has led vehicles travelling towards Mumbai to use a single lane of the Pune carriageway for smoother traffic flow.

To clear the carriageway of the debris, authorities requested the assistance of a JCB vehicle and a dumper from the IRB agency. The process of removing the boulders and debris is underway.

As a precautionary measure, the Highway Safety Patrol (HSP) planned a two-hour closure of the Mumbai carriageway on Monday between 12 pm and 2 pm.
