Special trains announced for Konkan during Ganeshotsav 2020; services to run from August 15

Celebrations of some of the most-awaited and important festivals in Maharashtra have been cancelled due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. However, some areas in the state where the festivities may be celebrated in a low-key manner have attracted the travellers and citizens, as many people expressed their wish to travel to Konkan for Ganeshotsav 2020.

Addressing this, the state government along with the railway department have announced special trains which will run during Ganesh Chaturthi, to selected areas in Konkan. This news has been appreciated by the citizens, and the booking for the same has begun. Furthermore, these trains can be used as a mode of transport for those who wish to travel during the festival, and services for the same began on Independence Day, August 15, 2020, and will continue until September 5, 2020. 

Information regarding the same was announced by Central Railway, and the respective body has confirmed that a total of 162 trains (82 up and 82 down) will run on the Konkan Railway line. In a statement, Central Railway mentioned that these special trains will run from Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus and Lokmanya Tilak Terminus to several areas in Konkan like Sawantwadi, Kudal and Ratnagiri.

The journey will be permitted only for those with confirmed tickets and one can book the tickets on IRCTC. Below mentioned is the list of trains

CSMT-Sawantwadi Road - CSMT Special (16 trips)

• 01101 special will leave Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus at 23.05 hrs daily from 15.8.2020 to 22.8.2020 and arrive Sawantwadi Road at 09.30 hrs next day.
• 01102 special will leave Sawantwadi Road at 10.10 hrs daily from 16.8.2020 to 23.8.2020 and arrive Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus at 21.40 hrs same day.
• Halts: Dadar, Thane, Panvel, Roha, Mangaon, Khed, Chilpun, Sangameshwar Road, Ratnagiri, Adavali, Rajapur Road, Vaibhavwadi Road, Kankavali, Sindhudurg, Kudal.

• 01103 special will leave Lokmanya Tilak Terminus at 23.50 hrs daily from 15.8.2020 to 22.8.2020 and arrive Kudal at 10.30 hrs next day.
• 01104 special will leave Kudal at 12.00 hrs daily from 16.8.2020 to 23.8.2020 and arrive Lokmanya Tilak Terminus at 23.00 hrs same day.
