Following the closure of the toy train shuttle service between Aman Lodge and Matheran, Central Railway (CR) has reopened the popular shuttle keeping the holiday season in mind. Following the damage of tracks during the monsoons, authorities decided to cease services until the repair works were completed.
The authorities have now given the safety clearances for the shuttle to run following trial runs over the past few days. These trains will now be open for commuters between 8:15 AM and 5:55 PM, with the first train originating from Matheran and the last train of the day originating from Aman Lodge at 5:35 PM. The scenic stretch is 3 km long with commuters from all corners of the state and country pouring in to enjoy the pleasant weather.
The toy train is in demand during the festive season and we expect several tourists to enjoy a ride once again in this train during the Christmas holidays,” said A K Jain, senior PRO for Central Railway.
