Mega block announced for Western Railway, Central Railway and harbour line

Commuters who travel by local trains should head out on Sunday with caution. Reason, train services on Western Railway (WR), Central Railway’s (CR) and harbour line will be affected on August 25, Sunday due to a maintenance block.

Western Line

WR authorities have planned a jumbo four-hour block between Borivali and Bhayander, which will be between 11 am to 3 pm. During this time up and down fast train services will be affected.

As per the statement released from the WR, in this period, all Up fast line trains will operate on slow lines from Virar and Vasai Road to Borivali and all Down fast trains will run on slow line from Borivali to Vasai Road and Virar.

Central Line

The CR is calling this block a mega block and it will be functional between 10:54 am and 3:52 pm. During this time Up fast services leaving Kalyan from 10.54 am to 3.52 pm will be diverted o­n Up slow line between Kalyan and Thane stations halting at all stations and further re-diverted o­n UP fast line between Thane and CSMT Mumbai halting at Mulund, Bhandup, Vikhroli, Ghatkopar, Kurla, Dadar and Byculla stations and will arrive destination 20 minutes behind schedule.

Down fast services leaving CSMT Mumbai from 10.16 am to 3.22 pm will halt at Ghatkopar, Vikhroli, Bhandup, Mulund and Diva stations in addition to their respective scheduled halts and will arrive destination 15 minutes behind schedule.

All slow line services leaving/arriving CSMT between 11.00 am and 5.00 pm will arrive destination 15 minutes behind schedule.

In addition to this, all Up mail/express trains arriving Mumbai during the block period will arrive 20 – 30 minutes behind schedule.

Harbour line

For the Harbour line, trains playing between Kurla to Vashi both up and down will be affected from 11:10 AM to 3:40 PM.

All Down Harbour line trains departing from CSMT Mumbai to Vashi / Belapur / Panvel from 10.34 am to 3.08 pm and all Up harbour line services departing from Panvel / Belapur / Vashi towards CSMT Mumbai from 10.21 am to 3.00 pm will remain cancelled. 

However, special services will be run during the block period on Panvel-Vashi and Kurla-CSMT sections. 

So as not to Harbour line passengers are permitted to travel via main line and Trans-harbour line from 10.00 am to 4.30 pm 

The jumbo block and the mega block is being organised to carry out the regular maintenance work on the tracks. In addition to the delays, the commuters should also bear in mind that the trains might be packed more than usual. So be prepared and happy traveling.
