Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation received a flak for cutting down trees for which they decided to plant lakhs of trees. On the basis of same, until now, MMRC has contributed more than 16,000 saplings.
For the ambitious Metro-3 project, MMRC to cut down 1,074 trees and so 1,727 trees will be planted. Cutting down trees decision did not go well with the environment-friendly NGOs who then filed a petition against the same at the High Court who put a stay on the matter.
Until now, MMRC has distributed more than 16,000 saplings at Shivaji Park, Hutatma Chowk, Cama hospital, Vidyanagri and other 25 places across Mumbai.
