Metro Line 2A & 7: MMRDA gets safety certification for pubic use of Phase II

It is pertinent to note that this development came days ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Mumbai. During his visit, PM Modi will be inaugurating the second phase of Metro 2A and Metro 7.

The Commissioner of Metro Rail Safety (CMRS) on Thursday, January 12, issued the safety certificate after its completed the testing of rolling stock, signalling system, civil works, track and speed trial for the commencement of second phase of Metro 2A and Metro 7.

This certification paves the way for commercial operations of the Metro Rail system’s remaining routes.

It is pertinent to note that this development came days ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Mumbai. During his visit, PM Modi will be inaugurating the second phase of Metro 2A and Metro 7.

After receiving technical approvals and certificate from RDSO for item, SOD, DBR, traction and power supply system, rolling stock, track structure, fastening system, S&TC and PSD, MMRDA approached CMRS for the final safety inspection and mandatory safety certificates, which are required for public use of the transport. After a thorough inspection, the CMRS granted the certificates.

In addition to this, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis inspected Gundvali Metro station.

'Metro 2A'

It is 18.5 km long. 'Metro 2A' route from Dahisar to DN Nagar station. This route includes Upper Dahisar, Kanderpada, Mandapeshwar, Eksar, Borivali (West), Shimpoli, Kandivali (West), Dhanukarwadi, Valnai, Malad (West), Lower Malad, Pahari Goregaon, Goregaon (West), Oshiwara, Lower Oshiwara.

Metro 7 

This metro route will have 14 stations. The stations include Dahisar East, Overipada, Sanjay Gandhi National Park, Devipada, Magathane, Poisar, Akurli, Kurar, Dindoshi, Aarey, Goregaon East (Mahanand Dairy), Jogeshwari East (JVLR Junction), Shankarwadi, Gundvali (Andheri East). In the first phase, metro service was resumed between Dahisar East and Aarey.
