The Brihanmumbai Electricity Supply and Transport (BEST) open-deck buses have proved to be a great attraction for tourists. All the seats were booked for their Heritage open-deck tour on weekend.
Even during weekdays, a similar situation took place, said BEST officials. They have earned more than INR 1 lakh since the open-deck bus was launched on Wednesday, November 3. Lokesh Chandra, the General Manager of BEST Undertaking, stated that the trips that happened on weekend were fully booked, and all the tickets were sold out.
People prefer a 32 seater upper deck, and they get a good view of Mumbai. They can also witness the other sights and scenes of the city along the route. They also prefer to take the trip in the evening as they can enjoy the sunset.
The second route of the BEST started on Friday, November 12, from National Centre for the Performing Arts (NCPA) and goes up to Girgaum Chowpatty and back to NCPA.
To take bookings in advance and sell tickets online, BEST has tied up with portals and apps. A person then has a choice to select a seat, time, and date of travel in this open-deck bus. The cost of the ticket for the upper deck is INR 150 and INR 75 for the lower deck. The tourist bus starts from Gateway of India-Mantralaya-Marine Drive Churchgate-CSMT and back.
