On Wednesday, December 29, Mumbai local train services between the railway stations of Kalyan and Kasara on the Central Line were operating with a delay, a report stated by the Hindustan Times.

According to accounts, a freight train engine had failed near the railway station of Khardi that resulting in the hindrance of services on the said line.

Whilst the train was moved from the tracks with the assistance of another engine at 1.15 pm, services continued to function with a delay of nearly 10 minutes.

In other developments, the Western and Central Railway has decided to provide the Content on Demand (CoD) services as a part of its non-fare revenue generation programme. Through this, travellers will be able to download and watch movies, music videos and other audio-visual content for no cost while travelling in the local trains.

With this drive, travellers will be able to enjoy uninterrupted free and high-quality buffer-free streaming across their personal devices during their journey and the content will be refreshed periodically.

Presently, CoD media servers have been installed in 10 local trains of the Central Railway and are being tested on experimental basis. Officials said once the testing is done successfully, the services will be made available in all local trains in Mumbai and though it will be free for passengers.
