Mumbai Metro authorities have announced an increase in the number of daily services on Metro Line 3, also called the Aqua Line, starting Monday, January 5. The move aims to make travel easier for commuters and reduce peak-hour crowding.

According to the Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation (MMRC), the revised schedule will come into effect from 5:55 am. The increase will affect the Aarey JVLR–Cuffe Parade corridor, benefiting thousands of daily passengers. Extra trains will run on weekdays and Saturdays, while Sunday schedules will remain unchanged.

Under the revised timetable, weekday services from Monday to Friday will rise to 292 daily trips, adding 27 trips compared to the previous schedule. On Saturdays, the number of trips will increase from 209 to 236, while on Sundays, it will continue with 198 trips with no changes in operations.

Metro officials said the step is taken to reduce waiting times, improve connectivity, and make commuting more comfortable. Passengers are advised to check the updated timetable before planning their journeys.

The Aqua Line during the initial days of the operation from Aarey JVLR to Cuffe Parade carried a total of 3,863,741 passengers between October 1 and October 31, showcasing consistent daily commuter traffic on the route connecting suburbs to South Mumbai.
