Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated Mumbai Metro Lines 2A and 7 on Thursday, 19 January. However, both the metro lines were made available to the general public on Friday, January 20 from 4:00 pm onwards with their full capacity.
From Friday, January 21, 2023, regular metro service will start at 5:25 am. The departure time of the first train and the departure time of the last train differ on different routes. Along with this, you will have to pay different fares for travelling at different metro stations.
Services on the 35 km long elevated lines 2A and 7 will be available at an interval of eight minutes during peak hours and at 10 minutes at other times. The lines are expected to carry 3-4 lakh passengers daily, reducing the load on both link road and existing Mumbai local train services.
When both the metro lines will open at full capacity, the vehicular traffic on the Western Express Highway (WEH) will be reduced by 25% and train load by 15%, while travel time will be reduced by 75%.
