Mumbai Metro that presently functions between Versova, Andheri and Ghatkopar has witnessed a ridership threshold of 2 lakh for the first time since the COVID-19 pandemic hit, reported the Times of India. This is, however, still below the pre-pandemic levels.

Mumbai Metro One was non-functional during the coronavirus pandemic for a duration of 211 days from March 22, 2020, to October 18, 2020, highlighted accounts.

According to the narrative, an official from the Mumbai Metro One Private Ltd (MMOPL) elaborated that since the commencement of December 2021, ridership during weekdays of the Mumbai Metro One enhanced to nearly 200,000. Further adding that on December 7, the numbers were highest after the pandemic at 202,536.

Prior to the pandemic, the service was operational from 5.30 am to 11.30 pm with a ridership of 4.5 lakh per day. Presently, the service is operational from 6.30 am to 10.55 pm. On October 19, the metro services resumed and it logged a ridership of 12,738.

This climbed to more than 100,000 on February and March 2021, weekdays. However, due to the second wave, restrictions were brought it which resulted in the ridership falling under 50,000. With restrictions being eased in mid-July 2021, numbers rose again to 100,000 on weekdays in end-August 2021.

Based on the account, presently Mumbai Metro One runs 298 trips on weekdays with a frequency of 4 mins during peak hours and 6-10 minutes during non-peak hours.
