Aimed at easing congestion along the Ghodbunder highway, Maharashtra’s Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde officially inaugurated the Bhayanderpada Flyover on Wednesday, May 14. A crucial traffic project in Thane, the new four-lane flyover is expected to cut down travel time between Mumbai and Thane by 15 to 25 minutes, as per the report by Free Press Journal.
Shinde believes that the project will not only be beneficial for daily commuters but will be a major milestone. He added that it will streamline connectivity between Mumbai’s northern suburbs, Navi Mumbai, Bhiwandi, Vasai-Virar, Nashik and even Gujarat.

Shinde said that this is the first such model in Thane region and once Metro services begin, commuters will get an access to Metro stations directly from this corridor. This flyover is expected to significantly improve traffic movement not only within Thane but also across the entire Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR), enhancing connectivity to key areas including the Jawaharlal Nehru Port, Shinde added.
