The M2M Princess, Asia’s fastest Ro-Ro ship, will soon connect Mumbai directly with Jaigad and Vijaydurg. The service is set to begin during Ganeshotsav and will promise faster, smoother, and more comfortable travel for tourists and Konkani families returning home for celebrations.

The Ro-Ro project was first planned during former Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis’s tenure from 2014 to 2019. It has now come to life under the Mahayuti government.

As per reports, almost 147 permissions have been obtained. Sources suggest that severe monsoon weather has delayed operations, but passenger safety remains the top priority. The service has full approval from the Maharashtra Maritime Board, DG Shipping, IRS, Union Shipping Ministry, and Mumbai Port Trust. The project will reduce road traffic and provide a safer, faster alternative to long highway trips.

It will initially connect Jaigad and Vijaydurg. Future plans include building new jetties at Shrivardhan, Mandwa, and other Konkan locations. The goal is to create a strong water transport network along the Konkan coast, boost tourism, and reduce road congestion. The ship allows for short weekend trips to the Konkan beaches.

Time:

The M2M Princess will travel from Jaigad Jetty to Bhau Cha Dhakka in Mumbai in 3 to 4 hours. The journey from Vijaydurg Jetty to Mumbai will take 5 to 6 hours. Previously, these trips took 10 to 12 hours by road. The ship reaches speeds of 25 knots, making it South Asia’s fastest passenger-cum-vehicle ferry.

Prices:

The ship offers four seating classes. Economy class has 552 seats priced at INR 2,500. Premium Economy offers 44 seats at INR 4,000. Business class has 48 seats for INR 7,500, while first class offers 12 seats at INR 9,000.

The M2M Princess can carry vehicles, including cars, bicycles, minibuses, and buses. Car tickets cost INR 6,000, bicycles INR 1,000, minibuses INR 13,000, buses with 30 seats INR 14,500, buses with 45 seats INR 17,000, and buses over 45 seats INR 21,000. The ferry is ideal for families and groups travelling together.
