Comfortable pod hotels (capsule shaped rooms) have been set up at the CSMT station to provide temporary shelter for passengers who alight or are waiting to board long-distance trains. Now this type of similar hotel will also be constructed at Lokmanya Tilak Terminus (LTT). However, the tenders did not receive any response, hence, in the next 15 days, re-tendering will be carried out, informed a senior officer of the Central Railway.Indian Railway Catering and Tourism (IRCTC) and Western Railway launched the first Pod Hotel at Mumbai Central Terminus in November 2021. The hotel has 48 pods which include classic pods, women's pods, disabled pods and a family for four pods. After this, the hotel was opened in July 2022 near Parcel Office near platform No. 14 in CSMT. It has at least 40 air-conditioned pod rooms. The hotel consists of 30 rooms that can accommodate one person each. There are six pod rooms for two people each and four rooms for families. Passengers can stay in this for 12 to 24 hours. Tariff is charged accordingly.


The rate has been fixed at Rs.500 for 12 hours. This include comfortable seating arrangements, luggage room, intercom, lockers, Wi-Fi, charging facilities, USB ports, TVs, good electric lights with dimming facility and other facilities.
