The second phase of the 80 km Shirdi to Bharvir stretch of the 701 km Samruddhi Highway from Mumbai to Nagpur will be put into service from Friday (May 26). This phase will be inaugurated by Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and in the presence of Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.

After the inauguration, the route will be open for traffic and the distance from Shirdi to Bharvir can be covered in 40 to 45 minutes and Nagpur to Bharvir in six hours. The MSRDC has taken up the Samruddhi Highway Project to connect the state capital and sub-capital to reduce the distance between them. The 520 km Nagpur to Shirdi section of the 701 km Mumbai to Nagpur route was opened for traffic in December 2022.

Bharvir-Igatpuri work at speed

At present the work of Bharvir to Igatpuri phase is going on at a fast pace. This stage is challenging in terms of construction. So it will take at least four months to complete this phase. The MSRDC expressed the possibility that this phase will be opened for traffic during Dussehra-Diwali.
