In a recent communication, the Maha Mumbai Metro Operation Corporation Limited (MMMOCL) announced that operational timings on Metro Line 2A (Dahisar East–Andheri West) and Metro Line 7 (Gundavali–Ovaripada) will undergo temporary changes between October 12 and October 18, 2025. This revision aims to support the final phase of integration and safety trials for the upcoming Metro Line 9 Phase-I section, which will soon connect Andheri with Mira Bhayander.
Officials explained that the modification is part of a scheduled procedure to ensure seamless connectivity between the existing Metro Line 7 and the under-construction Line 9. The new section—extending from Dahisar East to Kashi Gaon—is a continuation of the Red Line corridor. Currently, Metro Line 7 operates from Gundavali to Ovaripada, covering 13 stations. As the extension nears completion, MMMOCL has commenced final activities such as Independent Safety Assessor (ISA) testing, trial runs, and commissioning work. A successful Research Design and Standards Organisation (RDSO) inspection was completed on September 23, 2025, confirming the project’s readiness for the next stage.
An MMMOCL official stated that trial runs between Gundavali and Kashi Gaon will be carried out during this week-long period to ensure proper system integration and safety compliance. Owing to these activities, the first train services, which usually start at 5:25 a.m., will temporarily operate on a revised schedule. Commuters have been urged to verify updated service timings through the Mumbai 1 App, MMMOCL’s social media handles, and station information boards before travelling.
The corporation expressed appreciation for passengers’ patience and cooperation, noting that these integration trials represent a key milestone in Mumbai Metro’s network expansion. Once commissioned, the new Line 9 Phase-I section will link Gundavali directly to Mira Gaon, significantly reducing travel time and improving commuter convenience across the western suburbs. This project, according to officials, marks another step toward building a fully interconnected metro system that brings greater efficiency and comfort to Mumbai’s daily travel network.
