Anil Kumar Lahoti, General Manager, Central Railways (CR) inspected the Sleeping Pods and Augmented Reality Magic Mirror at CSMT on July 5. Shalabh Goel, Divisional Railway Manager, Mumbai Division, Ity Pandey, Chief Commercial Manager (Passenger Services), CR and other officials were present on the occasion.

Augmented Reality Magic Mirror

For the first time, CR Mumbai Division has awarded an innovative contract for the installation of “Augmented Reality Magic Mirror” to create an engaging experience for travellers in the mainline concourse of CSMT station for a period of five years under NINFRIS policy to M/s. Timeslider Tourism Pvt. Ltd. at INR 50,00,000 for five years. Along with the display of a digitized train timetable with a dedicated scrolling screen, railway information, and social awareness messages, this contract will create an engaging experience for commuters and passengers. 

AR Magic Mirror uses the technology of Augmented Reality to create a virtual world on screen around the person standing in front of the screen. It might be characters as well as the surroundings. The content will change every month depending upon the occasion. It will also have a digital train schedule to be updated from time to time.

Sleeping Pods at CSMT

Sleeping Pods is opened to give more comfort and cheaper stay option to the passengers at CSMT, Mumbai. Located at the most expensive stay centre in the city, near the waiting room on the Mainline of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus Railway station. There are a total of 40 pods including 30 single pods, 6 double pods and 4 family pods. This classy air-conditioned accommodation Pod Hotel will provide full privacy, Mobile charging facility, Locker room facility, Fire alarm, Intercom, Deluxe toilet & bathroom etc. Booking of these Pods can be done through physical mode (at reception) and online also.

CR had given the contract for the development and operation of the sleeping pods to Namah Enterprises for a licence fee of INR 10, 07,786 per annum for a period of five years and Railways will earn revenue of INR 55.68 lakh. Railway has just provided 131.61 sq meters of space to have all the modern facilities for a comfortable stay for the passengers who can’t afford to stay in the hotel around this city.

CR in Non-Fare Revenue

CR has earned INR 14.10 crores from April to June 2022 as against INR 1.89 crores from April to June 2021 showing an incredible increase of 646 per cent.

CR has also won the Commercial Shield for the year 2021-22 at the 67th National Railway Awards held at Bhubaneshwar recently.
