Mumbai's 9 Major Roads Get Speed Limit Update

For many years, speeding has been the leading cause of traffic accidents in the state. This has prompted the authorities to take action and revise the speed limits.

To reduce fatal road accidents, the Mumbai traffic police have set up new speed limit rules for nine key city roads. The changes were made after consultations with various stakeholders. The new speed limits have come into force from today, December 13.

For many years, speeding has been the leading cause of traffic accidents in the state. This has prompted the authorities to take action and revise the speed limits.

On P. D'Mello Road, Maharshi Karve Road between Godrej Junction and Opera House, and Keshavrao Khadye Marg between Haji Ali Junction and Mahalaxmi railway station, the speed limit is now 50 kmph.

On Khan Abdul Gaffar Khan Road between Bindu Madhav Chowk and Love Grove Junction, and in BKC between Diamond Junction and MTNL Junction, the speed limit has been set at 60 kmph.

The Jijamata Bhosle flyover in Chembur now has a uniform speed limit of 60 kmph, with the exception of the ascending and descending ramps, where the limit is 40 kmph.

The newly constructed Chheda Nagar north-south flyover has a maximum speed limit of 40 kmph, including its ramps.

The JVLR flyover has a speed limit of 70 kmph, but the limit drops to 30 kmph on its curves and ramps.

The Amar Mahal flyover in Chembur has an overall speed limit of 70 kmph, but the limit on its ramps is 40 kmph.
