In recent developments, the IndiGo airlines have stated that all its domestic flights having subset series 6E 5500 - 6E 5900 will be operated from Terminal-1 of the Mumbai airport, starting March 10. All other flights, including 5000 series will continue to operate from Terminal 2, the airline further informed.

According to reports, in view of the pandemic, the airlines asserted that it has taken measures to ensure passengers are informed of this change at every stage of their journey with the airline. Moreover, IndiGo is reaching out to all impacted passengers and their respective travel agents via SMS, calls, and emails provided in reservation detail. However, the passengers are requested to retrieve their PNR on IndiGo's website or mobile app to check their terminal before leaving for the airport. Furthermore, terminal changes have been announced by GoAir, Star Air, Air Asia and Trujet flights.

After closing operations of Terminal 1 in March 2020 due to the outbreak of the coronavirus, CSMIA’s T1 will resume operations after almost a year. Moreover, catering to five domestic carriers, the terminal will witness 102 flight movements across 27 destinations on day 1 of its revival. The resumption of services via T1 is touted to maintain social distancing measures, uphold passenger safety, and ensure a seamless transit amidst the pandemic.

On the other hand, CSMIA’s T1 will host eight registration desks and six testing booths where passengers can opt to undergo the RT-PCR test for the coronavirus at the airport for a minimal cost of INR 850. Adhering to the protocols laid down by governmental and regulatory bodies, a dedicated room has also been identified for the isolation of any suspected symptomatic passenger before transferring them to the designated facility.
