The Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport in Mumbai has seen a steady rise in the number of passengers travelling to Southeast Asian countries like Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia etc. In the financial year 2018-19, over 4,88,538 passengers travelled from Mumbai to Bangkok i.e. 669 passengers per day.
Taking into consideration all these factors, Mumbai International Airport is all set to add 24 flights daily to Southeast Asian countries. The expansion will be in the existing fleet of GoAir, IndiGo, SpiceJet and Vistara. Notably, SpiceJet started a direct connecting flight from Mumbai to Hong Kong on Wednesday, July 31 and GoAir has started a direct flight from Mumbai to Bangkok.
These initiatives will further boost tourism from Mumbai to Southeast Asian countries which has a lot to offer without burning a hole in the pocket.
