A two-hour block will be taken on Mumbai-Pune Expressway. This block will be taken to install a big directional board on the expressway. Today, October 10, the traffic going towards Pune will be completely closed from 12 noon to 2 pm. Therefore, traffic for light vehicles will continue from the old Mumbai-Pune Highway to Shingroba Ghat.


Overhead gantry will be installed between the blocks as per ITMS system. CCTV cameras will be deployed on this gantry. Under ITMS project, gantries will be installed at Km 45 and Km 45/800 in Borghat area. There will be complete closure of all traffic on Pune Channel during installation of the gantry. ITMS system is being implemented to prevent accidents on expressways and get rid of traffic jams.

ITMC project will be implemented 

Considering the number of accidents, it has been decided to introduce an Intelligent Traffic Management System. The project will be worth INR 340 crore. Of this, INR 115 crore will be used for construction and the remaining INR 225 crore is to be given to the contractor for maintenance for the next ten years.


What is the ITMC system? 

ITMS stands for Intelligent Traffic Management System. Through this system, traffic will be controlled through satellites. Drones will also be used in this system. Every vehicle entering the highway will be recorded. There will be a network of CCTV cameras on the entire road. These cameras will keep records of vehicles crossing lanes.
