Traffic jams can be really frustrating when you have a long day at work or you are already running late. Seeing a line of vehicles in front of you while treating your ears with all the honking is not such a great scenery for anybody. In order to resolve the issue, Uber has been working on flying the taxis. Yes, you heard that right. Uber is planning to launch Uber Air which will have taxis that can fly.
Uber has shortlisted India as one of the five countries that are potential markets for Uber Air service in the next five years. The taxi cab company had announced the concept of a flying taxi in May 2018 and has announced its plans to launch the service in cities like Mumbai, Delhi and Bengaluru at an event in Tokyo on August 31.

Japan, Australia, Brazil and France are the other four countries that have been named as potential markets for the service. The company had stated that it is welcoming proposals from stakeholders from the cities of the shortlisted countries and will soon announce the list of cities by next year. The ridesharing company will team with NASA to launch the demo flights by 2020 and paid service by 2023.
As per the proposed plan, the taxis would be able to accommodate four passengers and can fly at 200 miles per hour i.e. 322 kph. So if all goes well, then you can look ‘up’ to book a flying taxi in Mumbai.
