Anil Kumar Lahoti, General Manager, Central Railways stated that the linking of the UTS Mobile App and Universal Pass will enable passengers to get their tickets seamlessly. Any person who has received both doses of the COVID-19 vaccine and 14 days have elapsed since who wishes to travel had to take the Maharashtra government's Universal Pass.

The Universal Pass was issued after due verification of vaccination status by the state government’s portal. Passengers had to produce the Universal Pass at the ticket counter to purchase the ticket.

Now the state government’s portal issuing Universal Pass has been linked to the Railways UTS Mobile App wherein the above-mentioned category of passengers can buy a ticket without going to the counter.

Through the means of the App, both Journey and Season tickets can be issued. Additionally, renewal of season tickets is also possible. There is no need for passengers to go to the counters to buy tickets.

This facility will be available on Android Google Play Store and Apple App Store from Wednesday, November 24. Those passengers who have already downloaded the UTS Mobile App will have to update the App for activation of this new utility.

During the coronavirus pandemic, the UTS mobile App was suspended as there was no system of verification of the vaccination status of passengers. Now the UTS App will be opened for the public with adequate vaccination verification made possible by linking of State Government portal and Railways UTS Mobile App.

This new application is a standalone example where the Railway server is collaborating with an external server for the validation of tickets. The linking of the Universal Pass portal and UTS mobile App has been a joint effort of the Maharashtra government, CRIS and Central Railway.
