WR handed over AC local rake for trials

Central Railway conducted a thorough trial of air-conditioned rake for past few months. The rake underwent static and dynamic trial since November 2016. Finally on Thursday, rake has been transferred to Western Railway for carrying out the trials. The AC rake arrived in Mumbai in March 2016. Each rake costs Rs. 54 crore and can carry 1,200 commuters. 

The trial will take three-six months. The rake will be introduced during Diwali. Once the commissioner of Railway (safety) clears it. Only one AC rake has been manufactured. The services will start between Churchgate-Borivali and Churchgate-Andheri.
