The Urban Development Department has given permission to the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena to hold a meeting at the Shivaji Park Maidan in Dadar on May 17 in the wake of the Lok Sabha elections. The Urban Development Department has sent such a letter to the Brihanmumbai Municipal Administration. Therefore, the way for Mahayuti to organise the meeting in Shivaji Park Maidan has been cleared. The tradition and dream of the Thackeray group to hold a meeting at Shivaji Park has been broken.

Polling for the Lok Sabha elections will be held in Mumbai on May 20. Only 12-13 days are left for the polls and now the campaigning has begun. Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) and Shiv Sena Uddhav Thackeray group had applied to the BMC to hold a meeting on May 17 at Shivaji Park Maidan. However, the Urban Development Department has given written permission to MNS to hold a meeting at Shivaji Park Maidan on May 17.

The urban development department has given the permission letter to the municipal administration and the municipal administration has given this permission letter to the MNS leaders. Copy of permission letter is with Loksatta. Though MNS has not fielded a candidate for this election, it has given unconditional support to BJP.

MNS Vice President Yashwant Killedar had applied for permission on March 18. The Thackeray group of Shiv Sena also submitted an application on the same day. But Kiledar has claimed that we had given the application earlier. According to the rules of the civic body, the application which is filed early is granted first. After us, the Thackeray group had applied for permission. So we were sure that we would get the permission, claimed Killedar. Shivaji Park ground is not a monopoly of anyone, it is a public ground. He also questioned why the Shiv Sena was in power for so many years and did not know the rules.
