On Saturday, April 2, MNS chief Raj Thackeray spoke at a rally in Dadar's Shivaji Park. Herein he reportedly raised the issue of loudspeakers playing in mosques. According to accounts, he went on to threaten that if this isn't stopped, there will be speakers playing Hanuman Chalisa.

Following this, on Sunday, April 3, the Ghatkopar police detained MNS member Mahendra Bhanushali and fined him INR 5,500 for playing the Hanuman Chalisa on a loudspeaker without permission.

Moreover, the MNS Chief went on to claim that Maharashtra Chief Minister (CM) Uddhav Thackeray had betrayed the voters and the BJP for the post of CM.

Lashing out at Raj Thackeray over these remarks, Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut on Sunday, alleged that the MNS leader's speech was "scripted and sponsored by the BJP'. He went on to add that the Maharashtra government was capable of dealing with the problem of loudspeakers. Raut elaborated on how the "rule of law prevails in Maharashtra". Raut asked whether the issue that Raj Thackeray brought up has been dealt with in BJP-ruled states.

While interacting with the media persons, Raut alleged that BJP's loudspeakers played at the rally. He questioned why Raj Thackeray did not speak about the important projects inaugurated in the state including the Mumbai Metro, and Marathi Bhasha Bhavan, amongst others. He asked what the leader gained by only making criticisms and slammed the MNS leader for his comments on Sharad Pawar
