Mumbai locals: 46 additional trains to ferry JEE aspirants

While special trains have been allotted to ferry the JEE and the NEET aspirants, as many as 46 additional trains will be released on the Western Railway suburban route from September 1 to 6.

These trains are to run in addition to the 350 trains that were allotted earlier. Earlier on Monday, the Central Government, the State Government along with Railway Administration permitted the students to travel by train to reach the examination centres.

There are about 27,000 students appearing for the JEE in Mumbai whereas approximately 40,000 students are to appear for the NEET. The railway administration had earlier clarified that train travel for students would be limited to the examinations only.

Additionally, the station and the security officials at the stations have been instructed to permit the students on the exam days after checking the admit cards, which are to act as documentation to allow students to use the suburban railways. Moreover, booking counters will be open at important railway stations for the convenience of the aspirants.

Meanwhile, the JEE Main examinations have begun from September 1 defying pleas of several students and ministers to postpone the examinations amidst the coronavirus outbreak. Moreover, the NEET examination is touted to take place on September 13.
